California Dreaming

Filed under: Uncategorized — rrtucci @ 11:28 pm

Recently, Californian universities UCSB and USC have been making great strides in quantum computing. Those quantum computerists who work at IQC (in Waterloo, Canada) may enjoy this song. (I much enjoy the song myself. I also enjoy throwing a monkey wrench into Perimeter/IQC’s hyperactive, vaporous publicity machine🙂 )

California Dreaming (by the Mamas and the Papas)

all the leaves are brown
and the sky is grey
I’ve been for a walk
on a winter’s day

I’d be safe and warm
if I was in L.A
California Dreamin’
on such a winter’s day

stopped into a church
I passed along the way
well, I got down on my knees
and I pretend to pray

you know the preacher likes the cold
he knows I’m gonna stay
California Dreamin’
on such a winter’s day

all the leaves are brown
and the sky is grey
I’ve been for a walk
on a winter’s day

if I didn’t tell her
I could leave today
California Dreamin’
on such a winter’s day x3

  1. Ain’t that cold up here. I live close to Waterloo and all the snow we had yesterday already melted again. Here’s to hoping we will get a white Christmas nonetheless. And when do you ever get that in Southern California!

  2. Hi Henning,
I live in Boston and I do some California dreaming at this time of the year.

  3. I lived for a while in North Carolina and actually missed having a real winter🙂 Admittedly South California is a nice place though (aside from the oversupply of pepper spray).

  4. Just realized that I have the perfect song to counter yours: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpFudDAYqxY Joni Mitchell wrote it while living in Southern California – longing for the kind of Christmas you get in her native true white North.

  5. Okay, she is a very good singer and guitar player (or used to be), but she was born and raised in Canada so she is genetically programmed to like cold weather and hockey. She can’t help it. She’s a mutant.
